At the Palais Galliera
Through to July 12th, 2026.
The Palais Galliera, Fashion Museum of the City of Paris, invites visitors to dive into the art of women's fashion in the Age of Enlightenment. A pivotal century in the history of style, the appearance of women's silhouettes, hairstyles, and the diversity of fabrics, it was widely disseminated by the fashion press of the time, stimulating the circulation of images and ideas.
A feminine clothing culture then emerged, characterised by great sophistication in craftsmanship and heightened attention to detail. Great names in modern couture, such as Chanel, Dior, Lacroix, Nicolas Ghesquière for Balenciaga and Vuitton, or even Dries Van Noten, have managed to fit into the creative lineage of this era. Drawing from the aesthetics and codes of Enlightenmentera fashion, they helped shape what the world today celebrates as French luxury, through an unparalleled craftsmanship revealed in iconic outfits.
