Exhibition : Madame de Sévigné, Lettres Parisiennes

At the Musée Carnavalet - Histoire de Paris

From April 15th to August 23rd, 2026.

The Musée Carnavalet is dedicating an exhibition to Marie de Rabutin-Chantal, Marquise de Sévigné, on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of her birth, who lived in the Carnavalet Hotel from 1677 until her death in 1696. This exhibition offers a glimpse into the life of the writer, Madame de Sévigné, in Paris, at a time when the city is undergoing significant transformations. Her journey and her work will allow us to discover the capital in its urban, social, political, and artistic dimensions and highlight the place of women in 17th-century Paris in the context of the spread of a gallant culture.
